My name is Mike Sawin and over the last 32 years, I’ve made more than Ten Thousand Pots of Soup. Nearly all of them were more than three gallons, made from scratch, and shared with people in need.
This site is about food, serving others, and starting small — with what you have, with the people around you.
I am a Catholic Worker and my political views will reflect that on this site. I am anti-war, anti-violence, and I believe that we should help each other to the best of our ability especially when it comes to The Works of Mercy.
I also enjoy exchanging ideas with others, so let’s talk!
I am a Cook. Follow my recipes at your peril! (Any photos posted will be taken by the wonderful and terrific Tauna Quimby, my partner.)
I am a Writer. I write lots of stuff. Essays, articles, plays, stories, novels. Bad poetry. If you like it, let me know. If you don’t, let me know!
My dream is to open Cafe Agape, a place where people can come to enjoy good, simple food, service, and hospitality — without worrying about the cost. I’m using One World Everybody Eats as a business model. Check them out! If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, let me know!
I’ll be posting about the progress of the Cafe here and on the Ten Thousand Pots of Soup Facebook page.
